IPB 3 has such a better community than vBulletin, but there is no arcade as of yet (the ibProArcade team is building one as we speak, though). The fact that vBulletin could not offer a free upgrade is just bullshit to me (I apologize for the word bullshit).

I do agree with sticking to vBulletin 3 for the time being.

Probably the only reason I bought vB 4 is because of owning the license at $130 PLUS getting updates and such without recurring payments. Either way, the transition will be difficult, but I've always been one for making sure that my vB licenses are current so that any security updates are able to be applied. I first started with vBulletin back when we were in the 3.6.8 days. I like vBulletin, but I will have to play around with the software and make sure that things are buttoned up before I will set it live. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to beta test it.

It's 130 plus updates for the duration of the vB 4 series. And they're planning on cranking it out.

Well I also got the upgrade for YSF and because I just renewed the license for that site recently, they credited me the $40 renewal that I paid, so I only paid $90 for that upgrade. Once the gold release comes out, the "Testing Grounds" are going to get a workout. (The testing grounds is a hidden carbon copy of the forum where testing takes place by the staff without doing anything to the production site.)

I think you made the right choice CH, a few bucks more, but lifetime means a lot. I just hope we don't lose any features, you really have the site looking great. I'm the one that will always say, If it's not broken don't fix it! The others may be good but go with what you know.....

Where did you see that? My understanding is the minor updates will be included in the main license price.

You'll love it, trust me. I got the Publisher Suite. That has besides the forums> blogs, articles, a cms front page, and a better album system. All integrated together under one roof. No more having to go look for dodads and add ons.

Sorry, I worded that incorrectly. I meant that it covered updates only for the duration of the 4 series.
